This is a crime that is increasing throughout the internet and other credit unions have recently been targeted by these thieves. At the United States Senate FCU, we are concerned about your Privacy and will provide up-to-date information that can affect you and your account.

- A Phishing e-mail requests for you to click on a link provided in the e-mail taking you to a copycat web site that asks for your detailed account information.
- The site is fake. It might even look official with the company name and logo, because it is easy to fake a valid web site. Any HTML page on the web can be modified to suit a phishing scheme
- A fake web site can be so bold to state that “they are committed to protecting your Privacy and ask you not to send sensitive account information through e-mail.”
- Con artists are going “phishing” – sending mass emails to unsuspecting consumers, urging them to visit legitimate-looking websites that prompt users to divulge personal or account information.
- They’re “live” just long enough to capture details about you or your account so that thieves can assume your identity – allowing them to obtain credit cards, take out loans, get a driver’s license and more, all in your name.
- The result can cause damage to your financial history and reputation that can take years to correct.
