The United States Senate Federal Credit Union is committed to safeguarding the health of our employees, members and volunteers.

As we monitor the spread of COVID-19 and associated responses, we want to keep you apprised of our actions and policies to stay safe.  We will continue to assess the situation and ensure you are informed of any decisions to close or alter the operations at the Credit Union.

Reopening Plan>>NEW UPDATES

We know that there are people whose lives have been physically and financially devastated by the pandemic and its economic impact. We have already provided assistance to hundreds of members in need and our commitment remains constant. If you or anyone in your family needs financial assistance please contact us.

Phase I – May & June

  • Limited staff returned to the office
  • Eisenhower Branch reopened, providing drive-thru service.
  • Recently expanded service to Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 3 pm.

Phase II – Summer

    • Eisenhower Branch: OPEN
      • Lobby: Appointment Only
      • Drive-thru: Service as Usual
    • Senate Hart Branch: OPEN
      • Lobby: Appointment Only
    • More Employees Returning to Office – We will also bring more of our employees back into the workplace on a limited basis and on a rotating schedule

Phase III – Fall

  • All of our employees will be returning to the workplace on a limited basis and on a rotating schedule
  • GAO Branch – Due to the limited number of GAO employees working in the building, there is currently no plan on reopening in 2020

Throughout all of this, our number one priority is to ensure that we continue delivering world-class service to our members and in a safe, secure environment. We continue to follow CDC, federal and state guidelines in order to maintain every effort in providing the safest environment possible to work and do business.

We still have a long road ahead before we are on the other side of this pandemic. However, over our 85-year history, USSFCU has weathered many storms and stood strong through it all. While these days seem uncertain, one thing is for sure – we will get through this and we will get through it together. Thank you.

Branch Update - SENATE HART & EISENHOWER BRANCHES OPEN

  • Eisenhower Branch Lobby/Drive-Thru: OPEN
    • Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 10 am - 3 pm
    • Teller line will not be open – All teller transactions should be handled at the drive-thru
  • Senate Hart Branch: NOW OPEN
    • Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 10 am - 3 pm
    • Teller line will be open by appointment only
    • The easiest access to the Hart Senate Office Building is the Constitution Ave. entrance. If you do not have a Senate ID or other accepted ID, you will need to be escorted to the branch.
  • COVID-19 Safety Preparedness
    • Face Coverings are Required (please bring your own) More Info.
    • Physical Distancing of 6 ft.
    • Gloves recommended but not required
    • Feeling Sick? Do not make an appointment if you are feeling sick More Info.

    • Regularly scheduled deep cleaning to ensure a safe branch environment
  • Branch Appointment Preparedness
    • One appointment=One person (Do not bring multiple people to your appointment as we have to adhere to the capacity limitation in the branch)
      • If you have small children or someone is in your care that needs to accompany you on your visit, please let us know ahead of time.
    • Bring proper documentation for the visit
    • Expect a call from a staff member to verify the type of service
    • If you are not able to schedule an appointment online, please contact our Member Services Call Center at 800.374.2758 and a Member Service Representative will make an appointment for you.
    • Wire service must be completed by 1:45 pm

CHECK DEPOSITS: It is recommended that any checks be deposited using Remote Deposit Anywhere (RDA), in which the daily limit was increased to $10,000, in the USSFCU Mobile App (Apple and Android).

CASH DEPOSITS: Use our interactive map to find Deposit-taking Surcharge-free ATMs and Shared Branches near you for cash deposits.

It is recommended to call the Shared Branch to make sure they are open. Shared Branches are a unique network cooperative of different credit union branches that allow our members to do simple transactions like deposits, withdrawals, account info, cashier's checks, etc. from your USSFCU account.

Expected Delays

  • Limited Staff/Remote Work - While we are open for regular business hours, most of our staff will be working remotely. Additionally, not all staff will be able to work remotely during this time. Having limited staff available and a change in business operation could result in longer wait and processing times.
  • Mortgage Loans 
    • Application responses could be delayed 48-72 hours
    • We are experiencing longer than usual turn-around time when working with government offices. This is affecting the ability to process titles, recording, payoffs, etc. in a timely manner. If you have specific questions regarding a payoff, please email [email protected]
    • Refinancing could take approximately 65 daysPurchases could take approximately 45 days
  • Home Equity, HELOC & Auto Loans - We are experiencing longer than usual turn-around time when working with government offices. This is affecting the ability to process titles, recording, payoffs, etc. in a timely manner. If you have specific questions regarding a payoff, please email [email protected]
  • Mail - The mail system, in general, will be experiencing a slow down as mail delivery services work through their response to the coronavirus. This could cause delays in any documents or payments sent through the mail. Additionally, we will have limited staff on-site processing any mail received. We encourage any payments to be made online or over the phone with a Member Services Representative.

  • Relief Loan - Low Fixed Rate, Up to $5,000, No Payments for 90 days.
  • Signature Loan - We are offering a 60 Day No Pay Option on USSFCU Personal Loans.
  • Financial Counseling - If you or a loved one has been financially impacted by the COVID-19 virus, our partners at GreenPath Financial Wellness can help.
  • TrueCar Home Buying with Home Delivery - Handle all aspects of your vehicle purchase without ever needing to go into the dealership.
  • Loan Extension & Deferment – We are providing payment deferrals to qualified members with certain loan products for up to 90 days. If approved for a deferral, late fees will not be charged for the duration of the deferral period. Contact our Member Services Call Center for more information. Interest will continue to accrue during the deferment period.
  • Credit Reporting – We will not report negative information to the credit bureaus for modified or deferred loans during the forbearance or deferral period
  • Small Business Support - We are an approved lender with the Small Business Association (SBA) and have been accepting applications for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) from existing members with small businesses. Current law dictates that the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) close at the end of August 8, 2020. As such, SBA is no longer accepting PPP applications from participating lenders.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will USSFCU still be operating during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic?

A: Our Eisenhower and Hart Branch lobbies are currently open by appointment only. Eisenhower Branch Drive-thru is open for teller transactions. Our operations will be maintaining regular business hours, working remotely with limited staff, including our Member Services Contact Center.

Q: Will the Credit Union be offering a special loan or product for assistance during this time?

A: Yes. We are offering our USSFCU Relief Loan, designed to give much-needed relief during this time.

Additionally, we are offering deferments and extensions on loans & flexibility on loan payments. We know that each member has unique circumstances and we are working one-on-one with members to find ways to help them through all of this.

Q: When will the branches reopen?

A: Eisenhower and Hart Branches are currently open by appointment only. We are following the lead of the government and the CDC for their guidance in this matter. Additionally, because we have branches in Federal office buildings, we will be adhering to their directives in those cases.

Q: Where can I make cash deposits?

A: You can make cash deposits using the ATM and Drive-thru at our Eisenhower Branch. You can also schedule an appointment at our Hart Branch for teller transactions like this.

It is recommended to call the Shared Branch to make sure they are open. Shared Branches are a unique network cooperative of different credit union branches that allow our members to do simple transactions like deposits, withdrawals, account info, cashier's checks, etc. from your USSFCU account.

Q: What are the deposit and withdrawal limits at ATMs?

A: Withdrawl limits are capped at $850 per day. There are no deposit limits, however, there is a limit to thirty bills per transaction.

Q: When will ATMs be reconciled for funds to be released to my account?

A: Deposits made through USSFCU ATMs are real-time. Deposits made at a cooperative network ATM will be posted next business day.

Q: If I mail-in a check or paperwork, will there be anyone checking the mail since you are working remotely?

A: We will have limited staff that will be checking and processing mail. The mail stream, in general, is running slower, so there could significant delays in receiving mailed documents. It is recommended that any checks be deposited using Remote Deposit Anywhere (RDA), in which the daily limit was increased to $10,000, in the USSFCU Mobile App (Apple and Android). Please call our Member Services Call Center for alternative methods to send documentation.

Mobile Banking with Mobile Deposit

Members can make check deposits from the comfort of their homes with our USSFCU Mobile Banking app. Access is free and secure for members who are enrolled in online banking and in Remote Deposit Anywhere (RDA). Getting started is easy! Just download the USSFCU Mobile Banking app, available for iPhone, iPad and Android.

How to Deposit Your Check Using the App?

  1. Open the USSFCU Mobile App and Log-in (Same login info as Online Banking)
  2. Tap on the “three bars” icon at the top left to open the menu options
  3. Select “Deposit” from the menu and it will take you to the “Rda” screen
  4. If you have never made an “Rda” deposit, you will see “No deposits found”
  5. Tap the (+) icon at the top right and this will open up the RDA platform
  6. Follow the steps below to capture and deposit your check:
    1. ENDORSE YOUR CHECK: First, endorse the back of your check with “FOR USSFCU MOBILE DEPOSIT ONLY”
    2. FRONT OF CHECK CAPTURE: Tap the camera icon for “Front of Check”, place your check on a dark background, take a picture of the front of the check you are depositing
    3. BACK OF CHECK CAPTURE: Tap the camera icon for “Back of Check”, make sure your check is properly endorsed, place your check on a dark background, take a picture of the back of the check you are depositing
    4. DEPOSIT TO: Select the account you would like to deposit your check into
    5. AMOUNT: Type in the amount being deposited
    6. INFORMATION: Type in any info you would like associated with the deposit
    7. RESET or SUBMIT: If you are satisfied with everything, select Submit. Only hit Reset if you want to reset ALL of your information.

IRA Legislative Update

Many USSFCU members will find expanded retirement savings possibilities as a result of recently passed legislation. The Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act provisions offer greater opportunities to save for retirement and relaxed rules for the withdrawal of IRA funds.

The Paycheck Protection Program

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a provision of the CARES Act, offers forgivable low-interest loans to small businesses facing uncertainty during the COVID-19 emergency, so they can retain workers, maintain payroll, and cover certain other existing overhead costs. 

U.S. Senate Federal Credit Union has coupled with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to offer the Paycheck Protection Program to existing USSFCU business members. If your business has been impacted by COVID-19 you may be eligible.

Protect Yourself and Others

There is currently no vaccine to prevent Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

I started in the Senate in 1977. I was in need of a car and had just a few hundred dollars to my name since coming from Minnesota. My boss told me about the Credit Union and walked me over to the Russell building and introduced me to Virginia P. where I joined and she gave me a loan for 1600.00 to buy a car that afternoon.

I've been a member since I first moved to the area and wouldn't change a thing!

When I became part of the Senate staff it was clear many new doors would open. One, to ussfcu, has remained so for many (about 50 or more) years, helping us through small and larger problems, We have used, enjoyed and appreciated their services.

I've enjoyed banking with USSFCU over the years! It was helpful for managing my money for everything from grad school to my first home to my kids!
