Capitol Hill Competition & Congressional Cup Reception
Published: July 12, 2019
USSFCU had the honor of hosting the Inaugural Capitol Hill Competition & Congressional Cup Reception, a post event recognizing the U.S. Senators and staffers for their participation in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk, to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This year, through a credit union lead initiative, a record of $400,000.00 was raised.
A special thanks to all the Senators and staffers for your support and participation this year. Senator Richard Burr, R-NC and Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee (and team), won first place among the groups. Senator Burr was on hand to accept the award.
The Capitol Hill Competition started in 2002. It is a competition amongst congressional staff teams, held each year during the popular Cherry Blossom Run Ten Mile Run. Capitol Hill Competition awards are awarded to teams from Senate member offices, agencies and committees. This year, 733 Congressional staffers formed 67 teams and ran in the race – a 17% increase over last year! The infamous Congressional Cup is awarded to the overall fastest team from a Representative or Senate member offices. Senate has won the Congressional Cup 11 of the last 17 years!
Congratulations to this year’s top placing teams!
