Capitol Hill Press Conference
The Cherry Blossom Run festivities have come to an end. What an amazing weekend we experienced! The events kicked off on Friday, March 31st with The Capitol Hill Competition Press Conference. This was to present the donations collected for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. "The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is a major fundraising event for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, collecting much needed donations for children’s hospitals across the U.S. that treat over 10 million children annually..." Leaders from the Credit Union world took the podium to say a few words, including our own CEO, Mr. Tim Anderson, accompanied by his granddaughter Diamond. She shared her experience with Children's Miracle Network. This year $450,000 was raised for this impactful cause.
Capitol Hill Competition - The race inside the race
While everyone was excited about the main event on Sunday, the 10 Mile Run, at Capitol Hill everyone is always excited for The Capitol Hill Competition, which is the race inside the race. Teams organized by runners from the House side versus the Senate side. The Senate has won the cup 4 consecutive years. Everyone was eager to know this year's results. Participants made their way to The National Building Museum to pick up their race day materials. Our friendly volunteers greeted them and provided information about USSFCU, our new promotions and of course, gifts!
Sunday Funday!
Can you imagine volunteering at 6am on a cold Sunday morning for an event in our nation's capital? This is why our USSFCU team rocks! Because this is what our volunteers had to do this past Sunday for The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run. It was very cold, but that didn't stop anyone from representing our company on race day. The United States Senate FCU had the opportunity to sponsor the Pink Corral, the Silver Corral & the VIP Tent. Fun fact, the first Cherry Blossom Run had 176 runners and for 2023's race, 16,000 runners made a presence. Talk about history in the making! Thank you so much to our volunteers for all you do and for making this event such a great experience for the runners.
