Trusted Contact Program
A Trusted Contact is an individual authorized to receive limited information in specific circumstances such as suspected incapacity, financial exploitation, or fraudulent activity. Adding a Trusted Contact is completely voluntary, and the Trusted Contact can be removed or changed at any time.
Role of the Trusted Contact
- Your Trusted Contact will be contacted only in cases where we are concerned about your incapacity, financial exploitation, or fraudulent activity.
- Your Trusted Contact does not gain authority to manage, access, or transact on your account. Your trusted contact will not have access to any of your financial records.
- Your Trusted Contact has no legal authority over your accounts. Your Trusted Contact is not a joint owner and does not have power of attorney over your accounts.
Information Shared with your Trusted Contact
- Your Trusted Contact will only be provided with a limited, general account status summary (e.g., unusual account activity).
- Your Trusted Contact will be provided with a description of the circumstances prompting the notification (e.g., unable to reach you, identification of potential fraud, etc.).
Rights and Obligations
- Completely voluntary
- You may revoke or update your Trusted Contact designation at any time.
- We will treat your Trusted Contact’s identity, contact telephone number, and related communications as confidential, except as required by law or regulation.
- USSFCU is not responsible for actions taken or not taken by your designated Trusted Contact. While we will act in good faith to notify a designated Trusted Contact, USSFCU shall not be liable for failing to contact or contacting the Trusted Contact.
