The U.S. Census Bureau measures America’s people, places and economy. They provide a wealth of statistics that are essential in helping small businesses succeed and grow.

The Bureau's data allows business owners to make data driven decisions. By visiting the Census Bureau Resources for Small Business webpage you can access detailed data on businesses including statistics by industry, geography and more.

Survey of Business Owners- Identify the characteristics of business owners by industry, gender, race, ethnicity, and veteran status, down to the city and county level. Updated every 5 years.

County Business Patterns- Find annual information about establishments with paid employees down to the county level.

Economic Census- Use as a valuable complement to annual current survey data. Updated every 5 years; includes the number of establishments; employment and payroll; and the only source of local area business revenue.
