Making a difference in our community
The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) held their 35th Annual Bark Ball on October 1st, 2022 and the United State Senate Federal Credit Union was present. You may wonder, what is HRA? With over 150 years of experience, HRA works towards serving the community, conducting cruelty investigations, providing animal control services and fight for federal, state, and local legislation to protect animals. This organization works very close with The Washington Humane Society, The Washington Animal Rescue League and St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center to expand connections for families to have the opportunity to adopt and protect animals from danger and any harm.
HRA’S 35th Annual Bark Ball Raises over $500,000 to Support DC Animal Welfare Programs
The Annual Bark ball is HRA’s signature fundraising gala. This year, the event was held in the Washington Hilton’s extravagant ballroom with 650 guests ready to celebrate and honor the strength of this marvelous community. The live music, the wooftop bar, the barkuterie buffet and various activities gave the event a special touch. More than $517,000 dollars were collected in donations! This year, HRA honored the late Senator Bob Dole and the Senator Elizabeth Dole for their constant support and dedication to animal welfare.
The United States Senate Federal Credit Union was one of the event sponsors and provided the center piece on every table. People were amazed and happy to see our name out there. One of our members reached out and said “I am a 25-year member of the credit union…but I am also the First Vice Chair of the Humane Rescue Alliance. I was unaware until the weekend of all you have done in recent years to support animals and families here in Washington DC, I really appreciate it. I also thank you for the houseful of plants that my friends and I were able to take home Saturday night. They will really brighten up the place headed into winter. Again, many thanks for all you have done and continue to do”. - Mr. Willison. Helping our community is a crucial task and as a financial institution, we will keep focusing on this goal.
