Congressional Baseball Game for Charity
Published: June 27, 2019
USSFCU spent Wednesday evening at the ball game as Members of the United States Congress stepped up to the plate for the annual Congressional Baseball Game, a summer tradition that raises money for charity.
Members of Congress squared off in a rivalry that resembles the partisan split in the House and Senate. Democrats and Republicans played under evening lights at Nationals Park, home of Washington’s Major League Baseball team.
Since 1909, The Congressional Baseball Game has been an annual bipartisan event enjoyed by thousands. An event beloved by USSFCU staff and members alike—USSFCU has been a proud sponsor the game for many years. If you attended the game last Wednesday, you may have seen USSFCU Representatives passing out bags and other baseball gear to the hundreds of fans passing through the gates.
The Congressional Baseball Game for Charity supports D.C.-area charities, including The Washington Literacy Center, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation along with the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund.
By the end of the seven-inning contest Democratic members of Congress beat Republicans 14-7 tying the Series 42—42.
