Community Compassion: USSFCU Supporting Local Organizations
Published: January 8, 2024
Last month, USSFCU donated to different organizations around Alexandria and the D.C. area. The organizations in the area that we donated to were Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation, Carpenter's Shelter, SOME (So Others Might Eat), American Red Cross Virginia Region, ALIVE!, and Capital Area Food Bank. These organizations have done amazing things for the community. USSFCU is honored to have been able to donate to such great causes.
Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation has been Providing medical support to children affected by cancer, which is only half the battle. Mattie Miracle is dedicated to increasing awareness, education, advocacy, research, and psychosocial support services to children, their families, and medical personnel.
Carpenter's Shelter serves hundreds yearly. USSFCU is honored to support the Carpenter's Shelter's mission of supporting people experiencing and at risk of homelessness to achieve sustainable independence through Shelter and housing placement, guidance, education, and advocacy.
SOME has been a care provider and is a beacon of hope for DC residents, including individuals, families, senior citizens, veterans, and those affected by physical or mental health challenges. They have helped individuals create a happier and healthier future for themselves and their families.
ALIVE! has been improving the lives of those in need in the City of Alexandria. Through faith and love, I help people faced with emergencies or long-term needs become capable of assuming self-reliant roles in the community.
Capital Area Food Bank's mission is to help our neighbors thrive by creating more equitable access to food and opportunity through community partnerships.
The American Red Cross's mission prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
